Why I started Rackd Labs

Two years ago, I weighed 285 pounds. I was carrying far more body fat than I should have and not nearly enough muscle.

Then everything changed.

While I was at work, a rope wrapped around my ankle and began pulling me from the third story of a machine. I managed to cut the rope before it pulled me over the edge, but I wasn't unharmed. I suffered a bad ankle sprain and severe rope burns. For the next month, I couldn't work. I could barely walk. Every day was filled with pain, frustration, and the realization that my body wasn't prepared for moments like this.

Limping around the house gave me something I had never really had before time to think.

I knew I had to change. It wasn't just about losing weight. I wanted to become stronger, healthier, and more capable.

While I was recovering, I began doing 24-hour fasts. When I ate, I focused on whole foods instead of processed junk. It wasn't about starving myself it was about changing my relationship with food.

As soon as my ankle could support weight again, I made mobility my first priority. Every morning I stretched for 30 minutes, and every night before bed I stretched for another 30 minutes. Before chasing strength or muscle, I wanted to move well again.

Those simple habits became the foundation for everything that followed.

Since I was already a bigger guy, I knew that if I only focused on losing weight, I'd probably end up with loose skin. My goal wasn't just to get skinny I wanted to build a strong, athletic body.

I quickly learned that building muscle is a lot harder than simply losing weight. It takes time, consistency, and discipline. It means showing up to train on the days you're tired, sore, or just don't feel like going. Those are the days that really test you.

The first supplement I turned to was pre-workout.

I tried just about every major brand I could find. Some were actually pretty good. There are a few I still respect today, and I even used them as a benchmark when developing my own formulas.

Others were a completely different story.

Some were so overloaded with stimulants that they made my stomach hurt. Others made me itch all over or left me feeling uncomfortable instead of focused. I wanted something that gave me energy, motivation, and great workouts not something that made me feel sick.

That experience planted a seed in my mind. I started wondering why it seemed so hard to find a pre-workout that delivered strong performance without the unnecessary side effects.

At the time, I didn't know it yet, but that question would eventually lead to the creation of Rackd Labs.

The idea didn't come to me overnight. It developed gradually.

As I spent more time in the fitness world, I noticed something that stuck with me. Most of the big supplement brands seemed to market to people who were already in incredible shape. Every ad featured shredded athletes with physiques that felt impossible to relate to when I was just starting my own journey.

As someone who had been 285 pounds, I sometimes felt like those brands weren't speaking to people like me. It could make it seem as if fitness and supplements were only for people who had already made it, not for the people still putting in the work every single day.

I wanted something different.

I wanted to build a brand for the person who's just getting started. The person who's trying to lose the first 20 pounds. The one waking up early to stretch, showing up to the gym after a long shift at work, or choosing discipline over excuses.

Because that's who I was.

Rackd Labs wasn't created for the people who already have the perfect physique. It was created for the people who are willing to earn it.
